What is animal testing?

Many of the products we use on a day to day basis are tested on animals before they are considered safe for human consumption. These can be anywhere from dogs, cats, mice, monkeys, birds, fish, and more. Some things these animals are subject to are:

-injections of chemicals

-exposure to radiation

-surgically removing organs and tissue

-forced inhalation of gases

-force feeding

-artificial situations intended on creating anxiety and depression

The animal subjects will be studied to test their reactions to the various substances or procedures. Most will die after the tests are done, but many tests require the animal to die as a part of the research.

Fact: Around 100,000-200,000 animals are subjected to animal testing annually. This statistic applies only for the cosmetic industry.

Animal testing alternatives

Surprisingly, most brands do not have to use animal testing at all: many do so anyways simply because it is cheaper and quicker....
